Have you ever heard of Stephen Covey? Probably not. The truth is that we hadn’t heard of him either until very recently. Covey was an American author, businessman, and motivational speaker. The reason why he is famous is mostly because he authored the very popular book called ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’. The book sold more than 20 million copies worldwide since its first publication in 1989. As a sign of the age, the audio version became the first non-fiction audio-book in the USA to sell more than one million copies.
The reason we discovered Covey is because we came across one of his famous quotes. In the context of values and principles in life and business, Covey once said: “The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing”. If you overcome the fact that the quote is confusingly funny, you will realise that it reveals a big universal truth. Only keeping your focus and efforts on the most important goals will help you accomplish them.

As with all types of investments, Real Estate is subject to all sorts of new trends and fads, market pressures, non-stop information flow, government intervention, and technological changes. These things will always be there and will always seek a share of your attention. But as an investor you should not lose focus and you should always prioritize the main thing.
How do we define it? We believe that the main thing is superior capital returns with peace of mind. This is what all investors should be aiming for and they should ruthlessly ignore everything else. It means making your money work hard for you, not the other way around. As an investor, it means ignoring everything that you cannot control or is not a priority; only look for the properties that will increase your wealth over the long term with no stress. Once you find these opportunities then go all in!
