Dear friends,
Towards the second half of the 19th century the British Empire was directly or indirectly ruling over approximately 25% of the earth’s surface. UK governments were very keen to maintain the status quo and hence they were conservative in their foreign policy. The term that was coined to describe that stance was “splendid isolation”, meaning the diplomatic practice of avoiding permanent alliances. One of the biggest promoters of that policy was Lord Salisbury (his name was Robert Arthur Talbot Gascoyne-Cecil, 3rd Marquess of Salisbury) who served three times as a prime minister.
While Lord Salisbury was mostly known for his conservatism in both internal and foreign policy, there is another little anecdote that contribute it to his fame. In 1887 he appointed his nephew Arthur Balfour as Chief Secretary for Ireland, a clear act of nepotism. Apparently that move turned out to be both surprising and unpopular, as the only qualification that Balfour had was that the prime minister (Robert aka Bob) was his uncle.
In time the phrase became popular in the UK and its colonies and came to mean something like “and there it is”, or “it’s done”. Typically, it is mentioned following a set of simple instructions or when a result is reached. But how is that related with Spanish Real Estate?
At Artemis Assets we like it because it summarizes the way we work for our clients. We work to make the process of buying and managing a property as easy as possible. The investors do not even have to come to Spain to visit the property, as we allow them full control over every step from where they are located. The creation of a Spanish tax number, the power of attorney, the viewings, the bank account opening and the mortgage, the negotiation for the property, the signatures, and the handing of the keys, all can be done 100% remotely.
Further, Artemis takes over the refurbishment and the active management of the property after the purchase. We aim to maximize rental income, to reduce costs, and eventually to bring yields above 15% with no headache for the investor. Because after all why would investors spend their weekends worrying about interviewing tenants, buying cleaning supplies, and washing towels? And when the investors visit Spain, they have a property where to stay, their home away from home.
Get in touch with us if you want to increase your wealth but do not want to worry about the details of property management. We have a simple solution that works even if your uncle is not a prime minister.
Until the next one!
