Dear friends,

It is not widely known but paid holidays as a benefit is a fairly recent phenomenon in the field of industrial relations and work compensation. For millennia it was a privilege that was limited only to nobility, but nowadays getting paid to do nothing is a right that is protected by law for all workers. While nobody can imagine not being able to take some time off from work and to get paid for it, the idea really caught only in the last 100 years. The first instance when workers voiced their desire to have paid holidays was in late 19th century Germany but it wasn’t until the 1920s that western European governments slowly adopted that measure. From there on it spread to the rest of the world in different forms, especially after the Second World War and the period of reconstruction and growth that followed it.

But let’s pause for a minute though and think. It’s great that nowadays working conditions allow us to enjoy such a benefit, but are really paid holidays living up to their name? Who is paying whom? A family with 2 children that lives in a big city and plans to take a week of holidays is facing some considerable costs. Airplane tickets will easily cost them about 1000-1500 euros, a 3- or 4-star hotel will cost them between 2500-3000 euros, their food and drinks will cost them between 3000-5000 euros depending on the destination, a rental car and/or taxis will cost them between 500-1000 euros. The whole bill can easily amount to 10000 euros, depending on their holiday style and destination, and we haven’t even discussed entertainment. Ouch! It’s amazing to enjoy stress-free memorable moments with your other half and your kids but…

But what if Artemis Assets had a solution for you? What if we presented you with a solution to go on holidays for free and make some money on top? That solution is called Spanish Real Estate. By acquiring a property in Spain the family above is killing two birds with one stone.

First, it’s acquiring a holiday base in one of the most attractive countries in the world. Spain has been voted for decades in the Top 5 of the most appealing countries for tourists globally, combining cuisine, culture, beach and mountain, safe cities, and good infrastructure. When our clients want to stay in the properties that we manage for them they always have priority, which allows them to save on hotel costs.

Second, the property is generating rental income for the rest of the year which this family can use for their holiday expenses or anything else they have in mind. A 200,000 euros property managed by Artemis and generating 15% return will bring in 30,000 euros, which can pay for a lot of holidays!

If you are fed up with expensive flight tickets and extortionate hotel rates, give us a call. We have some great investment ideas for you.

Until the next one!

The last couple months we have noticed that the same two questions kept coming up from different investors. The first one is, what happens if house prices fall in 2023 and how can I protect my investment? The second one is, how can I get access to the Spanish Real Estate market faster and without putting up a lot of capital? Although it would be easy to dismiss these questions as too naïve or too risk-averse, we listened.

During the course of 2022 there was a name that was frequently in the front pages of financial press. A person who in regular intervals made headlines, loved by some and hated by others, and who concentrated in his name the love and envy of a whole nation. No, we are not talking about Vladimir Putin. The focus of today’s post is Gautam Adani. Most of you will ask, Gautam who?

By now you must have seen the “Keep Calm and Carry On” posters, t-shirts, coffee mugs, and accessories. The story goes that in 1939 the United Kingdom was preparing for the war and government planners were certain than Germany will perform destructive air raids on cities and industry. But then you might ask, what does this have to do with Spanish Real Estate? Let’s see.
